A delightful twist on the classic breakfast favorite, Crème Brûlée French Toast combines the rich taste of crème brûlée with thick brioche bread, perfect for special occasions or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Fresh berries (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche bread into thick slices.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the sliced bread, making sure each slice is well soaked.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or overnight.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Transfer the soaked bread to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon (if using) over the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  8. Serve warm with fresh berries on top and enjoy your Crème Brûlée French Toast.

Notes

Use stale brioche bread for the best results. For a crunchier top, broil the French toast for an additional 1-2 minutes after baking.
